Kyle Maskall made his debut with the China CTIC Team at the back-to-back F1H2O Chinese rounds in Shanghai and Zhengzhou earlier this month.
The Canadian from Chilliwack, British Columbia, competed in his first UIM world championship races at the Grand Prix of Shanghai on October 2-4, followed immediately by the Grand Prix of Zhengzhou on October 10-12.
Speaking to Powerboat News, Maskall reflected on his two-week stint with the team:
I really enjoyed my two weeks in China with the team and I look forward to finding my spot in F1H2O in the near future.
Maskall’s debut weekend in Shanghai showed promise as he grew increasingly comfortable with the boat, boat set-up and water conditions. He believes he was starting to come into his own in the second part of the Grand Prix of Shanghai before crashing out with four laps remaining.
The following weekend in Zhengzhou proved more challenging, but Maskall finished with a respectable 10th place to conclude his stint with the team.
The Canadian praised the China CTIC Team as “a class act crew” and had been looking forward to working with them again in Saudi Arabia.
However, his seat will be taken by 2022 UIM F2 World Champion Stefan Hagin for the forthcoming Grand Prix of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, scheduled for November 28-30.
