Jumaa Al Qubaisi Appointed Abu Dhabi Powerboat Team Supervisor

Abu Dhabi Powerboat Racing Team has appointed Jumaa Al Qubaisi as team supervisor, promoting a 25-year veteran from behind the pit wall into a leadership role overseeing race operations.

The announcement came through Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club on Thursday, with Thani Al Qamzi, Executive Director of Abu Dhabi Team and Modern Events, confirming Al Qubaisi’s appointment.

Al Qubaisi spent the majority of his career as a radio operator, most notably serving as Thani Al Qamzi’s radioman throughout the Emirati driver’s F1H2O career.

From Radio to Leadership

In that role, he managed race-day communications between the driver and pit crew, coordinating strategy calls and technical information during competition whilst Al Qamzi recorded 159 Grand Prix starts, 10 victories and 45 podium finishes across 25 years of racing.

Thani Al Qamzi, who retired from driving in 2024 to focus on his executive director role, emphasised his confidence in Al Qubaisi’s capabilities.

The decision reflects confidence in Al Qubaisi’s experience and his ability to support the technical and administrative system and continue achieving success.

Under Cappellini’s Leadership

Al Qubaisi will work under the continued leadership of Team Manager Guido Cappellini as the team competes in the UIM F1H2O World Championship.

The 10-time F1H2O world champion has led Team Abu Dhabi since 2015, delivering multiple championship titles across the team’s racing programmes.

Al Qubaisi responded to the appointment by expressing his commitment to the team’s international ambitions.

I am proud of this confidence and look forward to continuing to work with team spirit to raise Abu Dhabi’s name on the international stage.

Further announcements from the team are expected in due course.
