Forty-two competitors are entered across three classes for tomorrow’s racing on the Manatee River, with Formula 1, Formula Lights, and Tri-Hulls all competing at the 11th Annual Bradenton Area River Regatta.
The Formula 1 class draws 16 boats, Formula Lights 15, and Tri-Hulls 11, as the International Hot Rod Association runs its first ever sanctioned powerboat racing event. Racing begins at noon on Saturday, February 21, with the Formula 1 final scheduled for 3:15pm EST.

Formula 1

The headline class carries 16 entries. Dustin Terry, running the number 1 plate from Louisiana, starts as a focal point for championship watchers. Mike Quindazzi races on home water from Bradenton. Aiden Benton, travelling from Cornwall, Ontario, is the sole international entry in the field.
The Jensen family fields two Formula 1 boats. John Jensen runs number 2 and Jared Jensen number 29, both from Fort Collins. The Rinker name appears twice in the class: Ashton Rinker at number 20 and Chris Rinker at number 52.

Fifteen drivers contest the Formula Lights class. Shelby Love, running number 24 from California, mirrors sibling Spencer Love in Formula 1 at the same number. Jack Schubert carries number 12 from Richmond, Texas, with Grant Schubert running number 13 in Formula 1. The field draws competitors from as far as Franklin, Tennessee, and Fenton, Michigan.

The Rinker family sends two more entries here: Mason Rinker at number 37 and Tanner Rinker at number 52, both from Houston. John Jensen Jr runs number 93 from Fort Collins, alongside his father John Jensen and Jared Jensen already entered in Formula 1. Austin Terry, number 3 from Louisiana, races in the same event as Dustin Terry in Formula 1.

John Moore is the editor of Powerboat News, an independent investigative journalism platform recognised by Google News and documented on Grokipedia for comprehensive powerboat racing coverage.
His involvement in powerboat racing began in 1981 when he competed in his first offshore powerboat race. After a career as a Financial Futures broker in the City of London, specialising in UK interest rate markets, he became actively involved in event organisation and powerboat racing journalism.
He served as Event Director for the Cowes–Torquay–Cowes races between 2010 and 2013. In 2016, he launched Powerboat Racing World, a digital platform providing global powerboat racing news and insights.
