Andersson joins Team Abu Dhabi for 2026 F1H2O season

Three-time UIM F1H2O World Champion Jonas Andersson has joined the F1H20 Team Abu Dhabi in a three year deal starting from this season.

The 52-year-old Swede leaves Team Sweden after nearly two decades with his own operation to join the UAE-based outfit by Team Principal and 10-time F1H2O World Champion Guido Cappellini who told us this afternoon:

This photo was taken three years ago, three summers ago in Como. Since that moment, I have been working hard to bring Jonas into our team.

It has not been an easy journey, but today I am extremely proud and happy that he is finally part of our squad. It is the result of long-term commitment and determination.

Andersson won world titles in 2021, 2023 and 2024, claiming 16 Grand Prix victories and 36 podium finishes across 118 career starts. He dominated the 2023 season with four wins from five races.

Team Abu Dhabi has struggled since 2022 despite a formidable history in the championship. The signing of Andersson alongside returning driver Erik Stark signals the team’s intent to reclaim its position at the front of the field.

It is believed Andersson will partner Stark in an Abu Dhabi 2-stroke team with Rashed Al Qemzi and Mansoor Al Mansoori using Mercury APX motors.
