Universal’s Miami Vice ’85 has added Whitney Peak to a cast already built around Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler.

Peak, most recently seen in Netflix’s Thrash, is reported to be playing the love interest to Jordan’s character, following Alden Ehrenreich’s addition to the cast days earlier.

The film, directed by Joseph Kosinski from a Dan Gilroy script, is now scheduled for release on 19 May 2028, having been pushed back from an original August 2027 date.

Production is expected to begin later this year.

PBN has followed the production since earlier this year, after Gus Morales, who stores his 1986 Wellcraft Scarab 38KV at TNT Custom Marine in North Miami, came forward with the boat, built in the same period and style as the original series. Read our Scarab 38KV review.

The boat has already had one moment in the spotlight this year outside the film.

Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari used it for publicity around the Miami Grand Prix, a nod to the same 1980s Miami aesthetic the film itself is chasing. Read our Lewis Hamilton feature.

We understand Morales remains in discussions with the production over the boat’s potential use in the film.

Nothing has been confirmed by the production or the studio, and no agreement is currently in place. Morales did not deny or confirm when approached.
