Rasmus Hamrén and Madeleine Samuelsson claimed the UIM Offshore European Championship title in Class 3B, and William Södrelind and Jonatan Rindar took Class 3C, as the two-race championship at Tvedestrand concluded on Saturday. Class 3J remains locked in a tie after two races apiece for Sigurd Uppstad and Frida Uberg Sandvik, and Vegard Eriksen Malmgreen and Celine Dalen.
Class 3B: Hamrén Champion Despite Race 2 Defeat
Hamrén and Samuelsson didn’t need to win Race 2 to take the title, Friday’s win had already built a big enough cushion. Adam Wrenkler and Matilda Wrenkler, who had retired from Race 1, won Race 2 outright, with Max Samuelsson and Joel Sehgneberg second and Lovisa Sahlén and Mattias Lind third on the day. Hamrén and Samuelsson came home fourth, enough to secure the championship on points.
Rasmus Hamrén:
“We noticed after passing Oline on lap three that the championship was already secured, even with Sahlén right in front of us. They were fast and hard to pass, Sahlén and Lind in B-62. Max and Adam were really quick today too, but our win yesterday was enough to secure the title.”
Third place on the podium went to Adam and Matilda Wrenkler rather than Oline Nordli and Andrine Goderstad Hirschel-Haag, who had crossed the line fifth in Race 2. Hamrén said Nordli and Goderstad Hirschel-Haag were disqualified from the race for a technical infringement following a pit-side engine change. Powerboat News has not seen an official written ruling confirming the reason, but the podium ceremony itself, with the Wrenklers receiving the third-place trophy, is consistent with the disqualification having been applied.

Nordli and Goderstad Hirschel-Haag and Samuelsson and Sehgneberg finish level on 300 points for fourth overall. Where the tiebreak falls between a disqualified result and a clean second-place finish isn’t something Powerboat News has an official ruling on.
Class 3C: Södrelind Champion as Braaten’s Race 1 Lead Undone by Capsize
Jan Trygve Braaten and Svein Arne Uppstad won Race 1 and led the championship into Saturday, but capsized in a no-overtaking zone on the course while running second to Södrelind in Race 2. Both were unhurt. The result took them out of Race 2 entirely and dropped them to third overall.

“William was nervous before the race, but after a good start he took the lead from Trygve early on. Sadly for Trygve, he flipped in the no-passing zone on the course, and the championship was secured. We’re very happy for him.”

Nising and Frøytlog take fourth over Meisal and Gundersen on countback, level on 296 points but Nising’s Race 1 third beats Meisal’s best result of fourth.
Class 3J: Still Tied
Uppstad and Uberg Sandvik and Eriksen Malmgreen and Dalen each won one race and finished second in the other, leaving them level on 700 points with an identical record through every UIM tiebreaker, firsts, seconds and thirds all equal. Powerboat News has asked the club and UIM officials how the tie will be resolved and will update this story when that’s confirmed.
