Tobias Munthe-Kaas Ready for 2026 with New DAC Hull After Songevann Test

May 21, 2026 | John Moore | Powerboat People

Norway’s Tobias Munthe-Kaas has completed first testing with a DAC hull ahead of the 2026 UIM F2 World Championship – and the boat carries some notable history.

TMK-Racing confirmed the session at Songevann, Norway’s premier test facility, earlier this week.

During the last months we have prepared, rigged our equipment for 2026! We will race with DAC and our 250 APX. Tuesday we had the first test, at Norway’s best test track, Songevann. A big thank you to my crew as well as Joakim Carlstrom for capturing this day.

Munthe-Kaas told Powerboat News about the investment behind the new package.

Together with my sponsor group we have been able to invest in the best available boat. I am very satisfied and happy for that.

Marit’s 2023 hull

The DAC is the hull that Marit Strømøy raced in the UIM F1H2O World Championship from 2023. Strømøy campaigned the boat in the premier class before she purchased a new hull from DAC’s Guido Cappellini.

Munthe-Kaas and his sponsors have now acquired it for the 2026 F2 season, giving him one of the most proven hulls in circuit racing.

He retains the Mercury Racing 250 APX four-stroke engine he ran in 2025.

Songevann findings

The first run in the new hull gave Munthe-Kaas and his crew useful data to work with ahead of the season opener.

The test on Tuesday was a very good session for us as it handles very well. We also got some valuable information. Hopefully we will have another session on the water before the first race in Klaipeda in June.

The 2026 calendar

The 2026 UIM F2 World Championship runs to five rounds. The opener at Klaipeda, Lithuania is June 5-7, followed by Brindisi on June 26-28, San Nazzaro on August 28-30, and the Portuguese double-header at Peso da Regua (September 18-20) and Vila Velha de Rodao (September 25-27).
