“I tried to trim in, but I didn’t have the chance”
Andre Solvang shared his thoughts with Powerboat News after his free practice accident.
JM: What do you think about the accident?
Andre Solvang: I didn’t think I was flying that high, but in the end it just happened—I kept control and managed to fly over. I tried to trim in, but I didn’t have the chance.
JM: Was it a big gust of wind?
Andre Solvang: Yes, it was. And I think I noticed it a bit too late, and realised how bad it was.
JM: Was your boat damaged?
Andre Solvang: No, the boat’s still completely fine. No damage at all. I think they’ve built quite a strong boat.
The boat is strong but the Mercury trim cylinder snapped forcing Solvang to retire from the rest of the weekend’s event.
