RPM Confirms Second F2 Boat, Seeks Top Driver
Team RPM has confirmed plans to field a second boat in the 2026 UIM F2 World Championship, with team manager Alessandro Canzi revealing the news on social media.
The Italian team, which finished the 2025 season with driver Peter Morin claiming fourth place in the championship standings, has completed structural modifications to the additional hull using carbon fibre and resins. The boat is now ready for painting ahead of next season.
Driver Search Under Way
When asked by Powerboat News to identify the second driver, Canzi confirmed the seat remains vacant.
We don’t have a second driver yet. Having demonstrated the team’s potential on last championship season, we have received some interesting proposals. We’re evaluating possible solutions. We’re looking for talented drivers with a track result and success.
Rebuilding After Championship Heartbreak
Team RPM enters 2026 seeking redemption following Morin’s agonising championship defeat. The 54-year-old Frenchman secured 32 points across the four-round championship with second-place finishes in both Brindisi and Klaipėda, positioning himself for a title challenge heading into the Portuguese finale.
Starting from pole position at Vila Velha de Ródão with a mathematical chance at the championship, but his title hopes were extinguished by a blown fuse during the decisive final race, ending his campaign with a DNF.
The team, managed by Canzi alongside Latvian lawyer and team principal Baiba Veisa, has established itself as a professional operation since its formation in 2022. Their debut season delivered the UIM F2 World Championship title with German driver Stefan Hagin, though the victory came only after a two-month appeal process following post-race engine inspections.
Canzi’s 40 years of powerboat racing experience includes serving as technical director and radioman for several top-tier teams, including Team Qatar, Team Abu Dhabi, and Team Victory. His career includes nine world championship titles across F1H2O, F2, and endurance categories.
The two-boat operation for 2026 represents the team’s most ambitious programme to date with Morin expected to continue alongside the yet-to-be-named second driver.
