F1H2O powerboat racer Marit Strømøy took on a different kind of endurance test at the weekend, completing the half marathon distance at the DNB Oslo Maraton on 12 September.
The Norwegian, who races for her own Strømøy Racing F1H2O Team, finished in an official time of 1:59:10, placing 104th in the K50-54 age category, having turned 49 last September.
Strømøy shared the moment on her “Marit Strømøy – Racing” Facebook page, posting a photo from the finish area with the caption:
“We did it! Oslo half-marathon done and dusted. It was long and sometimes very hard, but in all a great experience and not too shabby for an old woman.”
Strømøy made history in 2015 as the first woman to win a UIM F1H2O World Championship Grand Prix, at Sharjah, and returned to the podium herself at Kyrgyzstan in August, finishing third on her four-stroke V8 Mercury package, her first podium since Portugal in 2021. She is next due on track at the Grand Prix of Shanghai, on 4-5 October.
