Peter Morin announced the end of his time with China CTIC Team on Facebook on Saturday, August 22, 2026, describing more than twenty years associated with the team, including nine as a driver. The same statement was sent directly to Powerboat News, in response to a request for comment made in June when Stefan Hagin first replaced him at the Grand Prix of Kyrgyzstan.

The announcement follows China CTIC’s confirmation in March that Morin and Brent Dillard would be retained for the 2026 season, restoring a partnership that had delivered third place in the Teams’ World Championship in both 2023 and 2024. It also follows Morin’s replacement by Stefan Hagin for the Grand Prix of Kyrgyzstan in June, a change the team gave no public explanation for at the time.

In his statement, Morin wrote of the parting:

Ultimately, we were unable to reach an agreement on the terms for continuing our journey together.

Morin was clear in a follow-up message to Powerboat News that the decision to leave was his alone, not a mutual parting.

This is my decision not from both parts.

He thanked the team’s staff and principal Eric Chan by name, calling some encounters unforgettable, and said he was ready to consider new opportunities to remain racing at the top level.

A Career by the Numbers

Across nine seasons with China CTIC since his 2017 debut, Morin made 44 Grand Prix starts, scored 336.5 championship points, and took seven career podiums, four second-place finishes and three thirds. His best championship finish came in 2023, when he placed third in the Drivers’ World Championship, a result he followed with fourth place in 2024.

Morin’s F2 programme with Team RPM is unaffected. He sits second in the 2026 UIM F2 World Championship, two points behind Edgaras Riabko, heading into San Nazzaro on 28-30 August.
