From Cockpit to Command: Al-Qamzi Takes Management Role

Thani Al-Qamzi, the Emirati powerboat legend who retired from competitive racing last year, has joined the management team of the Abu Dhabi Powerboat Team at the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club (ADMSC).

The move recognises his long and distinguished service to the sport while allowing him to continue contributing to Team Abu Dhabi under the continued leadership of Team Manager Guido Cappellini.

Al-Qamzi, 46, spent 25 years at the pinnacle of the UIM F1H2O World Championship, recording 159 Grand Prix starts, 10 victories and 45 podium finishes. Widely respected in international powerboat racing, he twice finished runner-up in the Drivers’ World Championship and secured six third-place finishes. While the Drivers’ World title narrowly eluded him, his legacy of skill, dedication and leadership is unparalleled in the region.

A Reward for Dedication

His inclusion in team management highlights ADMSC’s appreciation for Al-Qamzi’s decades of commitment. In his new role, he will contribute his extensive knowledge to race strategy, team operations and driver development, supporting Cappellini as the team continues to compete at the highest international level.
