Trask Switches to Team Sweden as Canadian Rookie Maskall Steps Up for China CTIC

Two teams have changed their driver line-ups in the gap between the opening round of the 2025 UIM F1H2O World Championship on Sumatra’s Lake Toba and the forthcoming Grand Prix of Shanghai in China on October 2nd-4th.

Australian Grant Trask has parted company with the China CTIC Team, for whom he finished an excellent sixth overall in August’s Grand Prix of Indonesia, as a stand-in for the recuperating Brent Dillard.

Thani Al-Qamzi, the Emirati powerboat legend who retired from competitive racing last year, has joined the management team of the Abu Dhabi Powerboat Team at the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club (ADMSC).

The move recognises his long and distinguished service to the sport while allowing him to continue contributing to Team Abu Dhabi under the continued leadership of Team Manager Guido Cappellini.

Rusty Wyatt of the Sharjah Team claimed his second consecutive victory at the Grand Prix of Indonesia on Lake Toba, Sumatra, on 24 August 2025.

He seized the lead after defending World Champion Jonas Andersson retired with mechanical problems after 17 laps, giving Wyatt a five-point advantage in the drivers’ standings.

Wyatt Inherits Indonesia Victory After Andersson Retires

Rusty Wyatt seized an early championship advantage after defending World Champion Jonas Andersson suffered a cruel mechanical failure whilst dominating the Grand Prix of Indonesia, handing the Canadian his second consecutive victory on Lake Toba.

Andersson had controlled the weekend on Sumatra, claiming pole position, Sprint Race 1 victory and leading the main event for 17 laps before his Team Sweden boat ground to a halt.
