Powerboat News is an independent sports journalism publication covering international powerboat racing championships including the UIM F1H2O World Championship, UIM F2 World Championship, XCAT World Series, E1 World Championship, and offshore powerboat racing.
Founded in September 2025, Powerboat News provides race reports, championship analysis, technical features, and exclusive interviews from the paddock. Our coverage focuses on accurate, timely reporting that serves both dedicated racing fans and newcomers to the sport.
The Editor

I’m John Moore, the editor of Powerboat News. I returned to powerboat racing journalism in September 2025 after previously running Powerboat Racing World, which I sold in late 2021.
I’ve spent years covering international powerboat racing, building relationships throughout the F1H2O paddock and gaining access that allows me to bring readers the stories behind the races. My coverage spans technical analysis, driver interviews, championship mathematics, and the human side of what remains one of motorsport’s most demanding disciplines.
Based in the United Kingdom, I attend races across Europe, the Middle East, and beyond to provide comprehensive on-the-ground coverage that you cannot get from press releases or social media posts.
Why Powerboat Racing?
Powerboat racing combines technical engineering, physical courage, and tactical racing in an environment where conditions change by the minute. It is motorsport at its most elemental – drivers fighting boats, water, and each other at speeds exceeding 220 km/h just centimetres from the surface.
The sport deserves serious, dedicated journalism. That is what Powerboat News provides: accurate reporting, detailed analysis, and respect for the athletes who risk everything in pursuit of championship points.
Editorial Standards
Powerboat News maintains strict editorial independence. We do not publish pay-for-coverage articles disguised as journalism, and we do not compromise factual accuracy for dramatic headlines. When we report results, they are verified. When we quote drivers, they are properly attributed. When we analyse championship mathematics, we show our working.
If we make an error, we correct it promptly and transparently.
What We Cover
Powerboat News provides comprehensive coverage of the world’s leading powerboat racing championships:
UIM F1H2O World Championship – The pinnacle of circuit powerboat racing, featuring the world’s fastest drivers in purpose-built catamarans reaching speeds over 220 km/h.
UIM F2 World Championship – The proving ground for future F1H2O champions, where emerging talent battles for supremacy in one of motorsport’s most competitive junior categories.
XCAT World Series – High-speed offshore racing with twin-engine catamarans competing across international venues from the Middle East to Europe.
E1 World Championship – Electric powerboat racing’s emerging series, representing the future of sustainable high-performance marine motorsport.
Offshore Racing – Coverage of UKOPRA, Race World Offshore, and international offshore championships, from circuit racing to endurance events.
Water Speed Records – Following attempts on the outright and national water speed records, including projects like Spirit of Australia II, Quicksilver, and other British challengers.
Beyond the Track
When I am not covering races or writing articles, I am researching the sport’s history, studying technical regulations, or tracking down the people behind the teams. Understanding powerboat racing requires understanding its past, its engineering, and its personalities – all of which inform better coverage.
My approach to motorsport journalism is straightforward: report accurately, write clearly, respect the readers’ intelligence, and never fabricate information to fill space. The sport provides enough drama without embellishment.
