Max Samuelsson and Joel Schönerberg won Race 2 of Class 3B at the UIM Offshore World Championship in Arendal on Friday, their second win of the event. B-85 leads the combined standings on 800 points with one race remaining.
Adam Wrenkler and Mathilda Wrenkler took second in B-61. Next weekend Wrenkler moves straight from Arendal into another title fight, level on points for second in the UIM F4 World Championship after round one at Klaipėda, in his debut season in the class. Rounds three and four run at the Waterfestival Viverone Lake, Italy, 7-9 August.
Lovisa Sahlén and Anton Modin finished third in B-62, enough to move Sahlén Racing up to second overall. Modin, the reigning UIM Class 3A World Champion and a Class 3B world champion himself in 2022, deputised for Mattias Lind, who stepped away from the cockpit to be with his fiancée, Madeleine Samuelsson, in hospital. Madeleine Samuelsson partners Rasmus Hamrén in B-32 and remains under observation after Thursday’s capsize.
Hamrén, recovering from the same crash, watched Friday’s race from the pits and sent Powerboat News this account of the battle for the lead:
Rasmus Hamrén, Powerboat News Scandinavian correspondent
It was right between Max and Adam until Max took the lead. It was very tight between Lauri and Lovisa, until Lovisa took the lead.
