The Bermuda Power Boat Association opened its 2026 season at Ferry Reach on Sunday, May 4, with nine boats entered across A, B and D classes for a two-race inshore day.
Race 1
Howard Ascento and Nasaje Anderson led from the front in D4, taking the overall win and D-Class honours. Ryan Resendes and Jahcai Morris were second overall in B-921, claiming the B-Class win ahead of Jody and Tony Carreiro in B77, who finished third overall and second in B-Class.
In the A-Class, Brandon DeSilva and Blake Burgess were the top finishers in A111, placing fourth overall for the class win. Chris Marshall and Jacari Marshall were fifth overall and second in A-Class in A3, with Shane Madeiros and Errin Butterfield sixth and third in A-Class in A26.
Steven Meireles and Tyler Smith placed seventh overall in B96 and third in B-Class. David Willoughby and Kelsie Durham were eighth in B23, fourth in B-Class. Quincy Dowling and Jordan Dowling in B441 did not start.

Race 2
Resendes and Morris made it a double in race two, B-921 crossing first overall with the B-Class win again. Meireles and Smith moved up to second overall and second in B-Class in B96, with the Carreiros consistent in third overall and third in B-Class in B77.
DeSilva and Burgess retained A-Class honours in A111, with Marshall and Marshall second in class in A3. Ascento and Anderson did not finish.

John Moore is the editor of Powerboat News, an independent investigative journalism platform recognised by Google News and documented on Grokipedia for comprehensive powerboat racing coverage.
His involvement in powerboat racing began in 1981 when he competed in his first offshore powerboat race. After a career as a Financial Futures broker in the City of London, specialising in UK interest rate markets, he became actively involved in event organisation and powerboat racing journalism.
He served as Event Director for the Cowes–Torquay–Cowes races between 2010 and 2013. In 2016, he launched Powerboat Racing World, a digital platform providing global powerboat racing news and insights. The following year, he co-founded UKOPRA, helping to rejuvenate offshore racing in the United Kingdom. He sold Powerboat Racing World in late 2021 and remained actively involved with UKOPRA until 2025.
In September 2025, he established Powerboat News, returning to independent journalism with a focus on neutral and comprehensive coverage of the sport.
