Jérémy Brisset’s Race 1 at the 24 Heures Motonautiques de Normandie was over before the second hour was done. Leading on the Seine at Poses, the 2022 UIM World Circuit Endurance Champion went airborne after catching the wake of the boat ahead and rolled — stopping just short of a full 360 degrees. He was unharmed.
Brisset was racing Boat 13 for GSET by MRC alongside Jean-Baptiste Thomas and Quentin Dailly, and had made a strong start. The flip came without warning.
Chris Davies spoke to him at the pontoon immediately afterwards.
On what happened:
I was behind another boat, making a lap, and I take some wind — I think some wind — and I’m going to fly. But I don’t know exactly why I flipped.
On the extent of the roll:
Not exactly 360, but almost 360.
The front of the sponson took the damage. The verdict on repairs for Race 1 was immediate:
We cannot fix it. For today, it’s enough. Maybe tomorrow we have another boat — we’ll take another one, but this one can be repaired there.
When asked if this was how he had wanted to return to endurance racing in France:
Not this way.
