After Powerboat News reported yesterday that Steve Curtis has been appointed Team Principal of E1 Team Miami, the team has announced Timmy Hansen and Patricia Pita Gago as its pilots for the 2026 UIM E1 World Championship, replacing Erik Stark and Anna Glennon after a difficult 2025 season that saw the team finish ninth in the championship.
Pita Gago steps into a full-time race seat after serving as reserve pilot during 2025. The 37-year-old Uruguayan competed at Team Miami’s flagship event in Miami, where the team finished fourth at the season finale.
The Punta del Este native made history as Uruguay’s first female rally driver. She began racing in 2012 and in 2023 became the first Uruguayan woman to compete in the Dakar Rally.
I’m very proud to be confirmed as a pilot for Team Miami this season. This is a dream come true for me, so I’m grateful for the opportunity and excited for what’s ahead.
Hansen joins from Team Brazil, where he scored four podiums across two E1 seasons. The 33-year-old Swede won the 2019 FIA World Rallycross Championship and took victory at last season’s Lagos GP.
I’m very excited to be joining Team Miami. They want to win races, they want to win the championship, and so do I. We have worked hard, we have prepared well, and hopefully by the end of the year we’ll be there at the front fighting for the trophy.
Alex Malavenda, Co-Founder of E1 Team Miami, said:
We’re thrilled to welcome Timmy to Team Miami and to see Patricia step into a full-time racing role. Together, they represent exactly what we stand for as we head into the 2026 season.
The changes follow a challenging 2025 campaign for four-time UIM F2 World Champion Stark. The moves were announced on the same day Team Monaco confirmed Maxime Nocher and Oban Duncan as its pilots for the Principality’s E1 debut, with Stark’s 2026 destination yet to be revealed.
