Miami prepares to host the championship-deciding finale of the 2025 UIM E1 World Championship presented by PIF this weekend, as the all-electric raceboat series makes its historic United States debut at Miami Seaplane Base.
Defending champions Team Brady hold a slender three-point advantage over Team Rafa heading into Friday and Saturday’s racing on Biscayne Bay, with Team Blue Rising sitting nine points adrift in third. Just 20 points separate the top four teams, promising a spectacular conclusion to a season that has taken the championship across four continents.
Racing adjacent to the iconic Miami Marine Stadium, Team Miami will compete in front of their home supporters at Miami Seaplane Base. Singer Marc Anthony’s team adds to a strong North American contingent that includes American pilots Sara Price for Team Westbrook, John Peeters for Team Blue Rising, and Rusty Wyatt for Team AlUla championed by LeBron James.
Championship Battle Reaches Boiling Point
Team Brady arrive in Miami with 154 points following a hard-fought fourth place finish at the Lagos round in October. The defending champions overcame a difficult qualifying session in Nigeria to maintain their championship lead, but Team Rafa’s consistent performances throughout the season have kept Rafael Nadal’s team firmly in contention on 151 points.
Team Blue Rising, owned by cricket legend Virat Kohli, secured their maiden E1 victory in Monaco and sit on 145 points. Team Aoki, backed by DJ Steve Aoki, complete the top four teams capable of claiming the Champions of the Water title.
The celebrity-backed championship has generated significant attention throughout its second season, with team owners including NFL legend Tom Brady, basketball icon LeBron James, actor Will Smith, and football hero Didier Drogba all invested in their teams’ success.
Miami Homecoming
Steve Aoki, whose team remains in championship contention, spoke about the significance of bringing E1 to his birthplace.
E1 coming to Miami is huge! I’m so excited to see this new era of electric racing hit U.S. waters.
Miami has always had a special place in my heart. It’s where I was born, and where my dad raced offshore powerboats back in the day. The city’s energy, speed, and culture make it the perfect home for E1’s American debut.
Alejandro Agag, founder and chairman of E1 Series, emphasised the importance of the American market to the championship’s growth.
The E1 Miami GP represents a big moment being our first ever race in the US. With American team owners Will Smith, Tom Brady, LeBron James, Marc Anthony and Steve Aoki, plus US pilots, the season finale in Miami is not only going to be big but have a lot of American interest.
Miami itself is a city that captures everything E1 stands for: innovation, excitement, and a deep connection to the water with a history of powerboat racing.
Rodi Basso, founder and chief executive officer of E1, highlighted the championship battle.
The E1 Miami GP marks the climax of an unforgettable season, a championship defined by tight racing and with any one of four of our nine teams capable of claiming the prestigious 2025 Champions of the Water title.

E1’s partnership with Bombay Sapphire extends beyond hospitality, with a full-scale RaceBird now on display at Miami International Airport, showcasing the collaboration between the championship and the premium spirits brand.
International fans can watch live coverage on E1’s YouTube channel, whilst CBS will broadcast highlights on Sunday 9 November at 7 p.m. Eastern Time.
Global Championship Journey
The 2025 season has taken E1 across nine races spanning four continents. From the dramatic opener in Jeddah through the glamour of Monaco to the historic African debut in Lagos, the championship has consistently pushed boundaries in technology, entertainment, and elite competition.
The pioneering series uses the RaceBird, an all-electric hydrofoiling raceboat that reaches speeds of up to 93 kilometres per hour. Each team fields one male and one female pilot who share driving duties across race weekends, demonstrating E1’s commitment to gender equality in motorsport.
Miami’s role as host reflects the city’s commitment to marine innovation and sustainability. The Miami Seaplane Base, located at 1000 MacArthur Causeway between Miami and Miami Beach on Watson Island, provides a spectacular waterfront venue that connects E1’s electric future with the sport’s heritage. Racing will take place on Biscayne Bay adjacent to the historic Miami Marine Stadium, which opened in 1963 as America’s first purpose-built powerboat racing facility.
Saturday’s finale will crown the 2025 Champions of the Water and conclude a season that has established E1 as powerboat racing’s premier all-electric championship.
