Team Miami have named Giacomo Sacchi and Patricia Pita Gago as reserve pilots for the historic Lagos, Nigeria round of the E1 Series, scheduled for 4-5 October 2025.
The announcement comes as regular Team Miami pilot Erik Stark will be competing for Team Abu Dhabi in the F1H2O World Championship, necessitating the appointment of capable reserves for the African debut of the all-electric powerboat racing series.
Giacomo Sacchi: Monaco’s UIM F2 Powerboat Racer
The Monégasque driver finished fifth in the 2025 UIM F2 World Championship standings taking pole at the cancelled San Nazzaro race and winning in Portugal at Peso da Régua.
Patricia Pita Gago: Uruguay’s Pioneering Motorsport Athlete
The 35-year-old from Punta del Este made history as the first female rally driver in Uruguay, following in the footsteps of her father Jorge Pita, a multiple Uruguayan national champion and 1999 South American champion.
She began competing in rally events in 2012 at the Rally del Atlántico, breaking new ground for women in Uruguayan motorsport. Her career has included successful campaigns in both the Uruguayan Rally Championship and the highly competitive Rally Argentino series.
In 2023 and 2024, Pita Gago achieved perhaps her most significant accomplishment to date, becoming the first Uruguayan woman to compete in the legendary Dakar Rally. Despite the gruelling conditions of the Arabian desert, she successfully completed the event.
E1 Series Makes African Debut
The Lagos Grand Prix represents a historic moment for the E1 Series, marking the championship’s first event on African soil. The race will take place on the waters of Lagos Lagoon, positioning Nigeria’s largest city alongside prestigious venues such as Monaco, Venice, and Miami on the championship calendar.
The Lagos E1 Grand Prix takes place from 4-5 October 2025, with qualifying on 4 October and the main race on 5 October.
